CONTOUR 2009: DE ZACHTE CIJFERS
Contour 2009 gaat beginnen.
Tussen zaterdag 15 augustus en zondag 18 oktober 2009 kan je op 12 markante plekken in de Mechelse binnenstad gaan kijken naar 22 films, video’s en installaties van 18 internationale namen.
Contour, editie 4 draagt de stempel van curator Katerina Gregos. Onder de titel ‘Hidden In Remembrance Is The Silent Memory Of Our Future’ stelt de tentoonstelling indringende vragen over de geschiedenis zoals ze tot ons komt en over het belang ervan.
De Biënnale voor Bewegend Beeld is goed voor meer dan 5 uur kijktijd en heeft 38 potentiële bezoekdagen. Een ticket blijft de hele duur van de tentoonstelling geldig.
Een ticket kost maximum 8 euro. Bestellen of vooraf kopen kan via UiT in Mechelen.

CONTOUR SPECIAAL
Je betaalt 1 keer en je mag altijd binnen op Contour. Dat is ideaal om alles gezien te krijgen. Of om dingen opnieuw te zien. Of om ook de speciale dagen van Contour mee te pikken.
Op zondag 13 september is het Open Monumentendag. Twee locaties van Contour - Huis De Lombaard en Figurentheater DE MAAN – zitten in het parcours van de Open Monumentendag en zijn die zondag gratis toegankelijk.
Zaterdag 19 september sluit Contour aan bij UiTKIJKER, de nieuwe Mechelse vrijetijdsbeurs.
Op zaterdag 3 oktober is er een jonge dag in samenwerking met H30 (artistieke werkplek voor jonge mensen), CJP en Opa Malyn (filmavond eindwerken bewegend beeld).
Het slotweekend op zaterdag 17 en zondag 18 oktober is een gezinsweekend en kadert in Mechelen Kinderstad.
Er zijn tal van extra activiteiten op maat van kinderen en hun ouders.
GEMAAKT VOOR MECHELEN
Contour heeft een focus op heel recent of nieuw werk. Het festival maakt ook creaties mogelijk en wil daarin een gangmaker zijn.
Herman Asselberghs, Andreas Bunte, Matthew Buckingham, Vincent Meessen, Mira Sanders, Wendelien van Oldenborgh en Yorgos Sapountzis maakten nieuw werk voor Contour 2009.
Gemaakt voor Mechelen en soms ook geïnspireerd door Mechelen. Yorgos Sapountzis liet zich leiden door Mechelse historische monumenten. Wendelien van Oldenborgh werkte met leerlingen van het KTA (Koninklijk Technisch Atheneum).
LHOAS & LHOAS ZIJN IN VORM
Contour brengt bewegend beeld van internationaal niveau op interessante locaties in de waardevolle binnenstad van Mechelen.
Daar blijft het niet bij. Er wordt hard gelet op de vormgeving. De werken worden optimaal ingebed in de respectievelijke ruimtes. Daarvoor wordt beroep gedaan op spraakmakende architecten die voeling hebben met hedendaagse kunst.
De tentoonstellingsarchitecten van Contour 2009 zijn de Brusselse broers Pablo en Pierre Lhoas. Ze zijn sinds 1994 actief in architectuur en design. Bekende werken zijn het onthaal van het Parc d’Aventures Scientifiques (Frameries), het meubilair van Wiels (Brussel) en de shop van Bozar (Brussel).

CONTOUR BIJ NACHT
Na Contour is er soms nog meer Contour. Na sluitingstijd worden een aantal nocturnes georganiseerd. Het zijn avonden die bestaan uit a) een select gezelschap, b) gegidste rondleidingen en c) hapjes en drankjes na afloop.
Iedereen maakt kans om zo’n nocturne mee te maken. De plaatsen worden weggeven via onze mediapartners. Het enige wat je moet doen, is de volgende weken naar de radio luisteren en magazines lezen.

CONTOUR 2009: THE FIGURES
Contour 2009 is about to begin.
From Saturday 15 August to Sunday 18 October 2009 22 films, videos and installations by 18 established and upcoming international artists will be on view at 12 unique locations in the historical city centre of Mechelen.
The fourth edition bears the mark of Brussels-based curator Katerina Gregos (GRC) and is entititled 'Hidden In Remembrance Is The Silent Memory Of Our Future’, the exhibition probes history, advocates its importance and revolves around questions of historical representation and historiography.
The 4th Biennial of Moving Image provides over 5 hours viewing time and counts 38 potential visiting days. Tickets remain valid for the entire duration of the exhibition.
The maximum price of a ticket is 8 Euros.

Pay once and visit whenever you want; ideal if you don't want to miss out on anything, when you want to return for another visit, or attend one of Contour’s special days.
Heritage Open Day is on Sunday 13 September. Two locations of Contour's - Huis De Lombaard and Figurentheater DE MAAN – are included in Heritage Open Day and allow free access on that day.
On Saturday 19 September Contour joins UiTKIJKER, Mechelen's new leisure show.
On Saturday 3 October there is a young day in collaboration with H30 (art workshop for young people), CJP and Opa Malyn (film evening with final projects moving image).
The closing weekend on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October will be organised as part of
Family Weekend Mechelen Kinderstad. This weekend features many extra activities for children and their parents.
MADE FOR MECHELEN
Contour presents very recent or new work in moving image. One of the aims of the biennial is to enable, facilitate and support new productions.
Herman Asselberghs, Andreas Bunte, Matthew Buckingham, Vincent Meessen, Mira Sanders, Wendelien van Oldenborgh, and Yorgos Sapountzis have all created new work for Contour 2009.
‘Made for Mechelen’ and sometimes also inspired by Mechelen. Yorgos Sapountzis' work takes its cue from historic monuments in Mechelen, while Wendelien van Oldenborgh worked with students of KTA - Atheneum Technical School.
LHOAS & LHOAS: BUILDING CONTOUR
Contour brings top rate international work in the moving image into remarkable locations in the historic city centre of Mechelen.
The biennial also pays special attention to installation, architecture and design. Each work is optimally integrated into the various locations. For this, each time Contour engages high-profile architects with a feeling for contemporary art.
The exhibition architects for Contour 2009 are the Brussels-based brothers Pablo and Pierre Lhoas. Lhoas & Lhoas have been active in architecture and design since 1994. Some of their better-known projects are the reception area of the Parc d’Aventures Scientifiques (Frameries), the furniture of Wiels (Brussels) and the Bozar museum shop (Brussels). They are also currently working on a private airport terminal.

CONTOUR BY NIGHT
Contour sometimes continues well into the night. After closing time a number of nocturnal visits are organised. These are evenings combining a select group of people with guided tours and refreshments.
